Malaysian Dreamgirl

Malaysian Dreamgirl, the nation’s first online reality series, ended their nationwide auditions tour for Season 2 on a high note at Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa, following earlier stops in Penang, Ipoh and Johor Bahru.

Eager young women, ranging from 17 to 28 years of age with aspirations of being models, flocked to Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa where a crowd was already gathered even before registration was open. The participants then waited patiently for their turn to meet face to face with the judges and their shot for a place in the next round.

This season, Malaysian Dreamgirl welcomed two new faces to their panel of judges - Andrew Tan, founder of modeling agency Andrews Models, and Julie Wong, CEO of home grown cosmetics brand Beautilicious. Model/actress Elaine Daily continued what she did last season - speaking her mind and telling it like it is – and fashion stylist Lim Jimmy, who was not present for the auditions in Kuala Lumpur, was also retained from Season 1.

Simple questions were presented to the girls like, Which is your favourite Malaysian model, or, Do you have what it takes to be a model. Some were even asked to show off their poses or catwalk for the judges.

As the contestants took their turn to audition one by one, disappointment and despair clearly showed on the faces of those who failed to impress the judges as they walked out of the audition room. In stark contrast, it was screams and tears of joy from those who were successful.

Being a model search competition, Malaysian Dreamgirl offers a dynamic platform for young Malaysian ladies to show their modeling potential and test their modeling qualities. It is also the chance for many to be spotted.

The contestants who passed the auditions will next face another round of scrutiny by the judges in the closed auditions for one of 12 spots in the finals, which will run between March and April 2009. Contestants who make it to the finals will experience a crash course in modeling, navigate through various challenges and endure living together with 11 other gorgeous women for up to 2 months.

CEO of Capxion Media, Jerad Solomon said, “We went nationwide this year with our auditions in Penang, Ipoh and Johor Bahru. However the KL auditions were by far the most successful. We are raring to pick our top 12”.
